01What the programmes cover

The University of Debrecen's Faculty of Health — operating under the broader Medical & Health Science Centre — offers English-language bachelor's degrees in physiotherapy and nursing, alongside programmes in health-care management and public health. Each is a full-time, multi-year degree grounded in both classroom theory and substantial supervised clinical placement.

Physiotherapy and nursing share a practical DNA: students rotate through hospital wards, rehabilitation units and community-health settings affiliated with the university's clinical network. These placements are built into the curriculum rather than bolted on at the end, so students are developing patient-handling, clinical reasoning and professional communication skills throughout — not cramming them into a final year.

Entry requirements reflect that patient-facing focus. Applicants typically need a strong secondary-school background in biology and chemistry, and the admissions process includes an assessment of academic readiness. English proficiency is expected; non-native speakers will need recognised documentation. The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship covers these programmes, making them genuinely accessible for students from partner countries who meet the academic bar.

Graduates enter labour markets where demand for qualified health professionals remains consistently high — across the European Union and well beyond. Because the University of Debrecen is a state-recognised Hungarian institution and its degrees follow the Bologna Process, a Debrecen physiotherapy or nursing qualification travels well. Students planning to practise outside Hungary should still confirm the specific licensing or registration requirements of their home country before enrolling — the degree opens doors, but individual country rules vary.
