01What to expect

Every applicant to the University of Debrecen's English-language health and science programmes sits an online entrance assessment as part of the admissions process. It is not a trick, and it is not designed to catch you out. The test evaluates the foundational knowledge you will need to survive — and thrive — in a demanding university curriculum.

The content varies by programme but broadly covers natural-science subjects: biology, chemistry, and for some programmes, physics and mathematics. A medicine or dentistry applicant should expect questions drawing on secondary-school biology and chemistry at a solid, pre-university level. Biochemistry and molecular biology applicants can expect a heavier emphasis on chemistry concepts alongside biology. The University of Debrecen's Medical & Health Science Centre uses the results alongside your academic documents to build a full picture of your readiness.

02How to prepare

Start with your own secondary-school syllabi. If you sat A-levels, the International Baccalaureate, or an equivalent national leaving exam in biology and chemistry, you already have the raw material — the task is to revisit and consolidate, not to learn entirely new content. Work through past papers and topic summaries in areas that feel uncertain rather than trying to cover everything again from scratch.

Pay particular attention to fundamental concepts: cell biology, genetics, organic chemistry, and biochemical processes. These turn up consistently across programmes. Timed practice matters too: the online format rewards clear thinking under a clock, and sitting mock tests at home builds that muscle.

The assessment is taken remotely, so a reliable internet connection and a quiet space on test day are as important as content knowledge. Read the instructions from the university's admissions office carefully before you sit — procedural mistakes cost marks that your preparation should have earned you.
